10 Things you need to know about Walmart Grocery Pickup

1. Time Saver

If you are like me and work a full time job, the last thing you want to do after work or on the weekends is go grocery shopping. When my co-worker recommended the free Walmart grocery pickup service available at our local Walmart I knew I had to give it a try. No more wasted time walking up and down the aisles, standing in the “one” check out line that is open and loading the groceries in my car. With the Walmart grocery pickup service, I just place my order with the online app and a Walmart employee will do all of that for me!

2. Money Saver

The Walmart grocery pickup service is free. Walmart is committed to Everyday Low Prices and they do not charge any markups on their items. The prices online should be the same or better than they offer in-store.

Another great money saver…No more impulse purchases. I am not tempted to put things in my cart because I was shopping while hungry or came across something new or on sale that I really didn’t need. If you are a coupon shopper, one down side is that you can’t use coupons with the online pick up service.

5. You can only pay with credit or debit card

Walmart only accepts credit and debit cards for grocery pickup orders. I simply added a credit card to my Walmart.com account when I was going through the checkout process and paying for my order. You can save that card and/or add other cards for future orders.

6. You order online or with the Walmart Grocery App

Choosing your Walmart grocery pickup groceries is really easy. You just type your items into the search box, and a variety of selections appear on the screen. Once you’ve chosen what you would like, you can change the quantity and/or pounds and then just hit “add.” The more your order, the more items the app will add to your “Reorder Your Essentials” list; making your shopping even faster.

This service is not solely limited to food. You are able to purchase toiletries, paper products, cleaning supplies, baby products, school supplies, office essentials, garden supplies and even some toys and outdoor games.

7. Substitutes for out of stock items

You can choose to allow substitutions or not on ALL items or a SELECTION of items. I usually allow substitutions on all items and have not had any negative experience with that so far. Actually, Walmart’s grocery pickup substitution policy can also work in your favor. If you choose to allow substitutions and one is made, you’ll always be charged for the lower priced item even if the item they substituted was more expensive or a larger quantity.

When you go to pickup your order, your personal shopper will begin with your substitutions (if there are any), going over what you ordered and what they are offering in exchange. If you are ok with the substitutions, you’ll keep them and the price will be adjusted in your favor. Reject the items and they will be deducted from your bill and restocked them for you.

I seem to always forget at least one or two items right after I click order and pay! With some exceptions, you can add or remove items or change the time/date for your order until the day before your scheduled delivery/pickup. Sign in to your Walmart grocery account and select My Orders, you can see the exact cutoff time for submitting changes.

If you ordered Walmart grocery pickup, and you’d like someone else to pickup your order, you can add their name and contact information during checkout. If you’ve already checked out but would like to either add or change the existing pickup person just sign into your account, go to the order and select “see details.” Select “edit” next to the Current Pickup Person and then add your alternate pickup person’s information. You can also call your local store and let them know that your husband, friend or family member is coming instead of you. I have done this at my local store and had no problems.

You can also place an order for someone else and have them pick it up. For example, you could order groceries for your college age kids who live in another town/state and have them go pick them up. This is such a great way to help out your kids when they are low on funds and food!

10. Great Service

The Walmart grocery pickup service almost makes you feel like a movie star or big wig with their own personal assistant doing all of their shopping for them! Your very own personal grocery expert carefully choose all your items, including produce, meat, cleaning products, beauty and even some household supplies. Every single grocery pickup employee I have engaged with has been kind and considerate, greeting me with a smile, just like this adorable young lady who helped me with this pickup order. This service far exceeds service I have received inside the same store. That reason alone makes the Walmart pickup worth it!

A friendly grocery expert will then come out to greet you when you arrive, asks your name and then promptly returns with your groceries! They have all of your items pre-bagged and bring them out in big bins. This is so nice as it keeps all of your items form getting squished or damaged.

I have ordered at least 6 times now and have not had any problems with missing items, damaged items or items that were not fresh. I feel like I might even get the fresher and nicer produce since I have an employee picking out the best stuff for me. Plus it helps that Walmart offers a freshness guarantee. If you are not satisfied with a product you receive through Walmart Grocery, simply call Customer Care for a refund.

To Sum it up…I really Love this Service!

I’ve become a big fan of the Walmart Grocery pickup service. I find that it saves me time and it saves me money.

I’ll mention it again–you can earn $10 off future Walmart grocery deliveries by emailing your Walmart link to friends and family or sharing it on social media. This will get both of you an online grocery shopping discount of $10. That is, they get $10 off their first order, and once that first order is complete, the $10 credit shows up in your account. So it’s a win-win all around.

Make my heart sing!
